Gateways
The Gateways allow to connect LoRaWAN private network devices to Wiotys. Gateways are provided and configured by Wi6labs for a dedicated Wiotys environnement.
Connection
The gateways must be connected to Wiotys using Ethernet or SIM connectivity. In both cases, the connection must be stable and of good quality in order for the gateway to work properly.
The gateways are configured and tested by Wi6labs teams before delivery.
Ethernet
The gateways are configured in DHCP mode.
Here is a list of ports used for the gateway connection. Please make sure they are open on the gateway network. Please also allow pings for support purposes.
Port | Protocol | direction |
---|---|---|
1194 | TCP / UDP | gateway -> Wiotys |
1195 | TCP / UDP | gateway -> Wiotys |
123 | NTP | gateway <-> World |
53 | DNS | gateway <-> World |
If you wish to change the connection of your gateway from SIM to Ethernet, it will work automatically as long as the necessary ports are open.
SIM : 3G / 4G data
Sim connectivity must be configured by Wi6labs on your gateway. If you are using your own SIM card, we recommand that the SIMs are sent to Wi6labs office in order to fully test the gateways before delivery.
In any case, please check the following:
- SIM card is active
- PIN code is deactivated
- Data plan is available and associated with the SIM (it can take a few days depending on the operator)
- You have send the APN, MCC and MNC associated with the SIM (+ user and password if any) to Wi6labs support
If you wish to change the connection of your gateway from Ethernet to SIM, please contact Wi6labs support before the gateway is deconnected.
Display
All your Gateways will be visualized on our Homepage Map based on where they're located. The map dynamically adjusts its scale to accommodate all Gateway locations. Here's how we present the Gateways:
- Each Gateway is shown as a pointer on the map, but it starts off gray (status loading).
- We check the status of each Gateway and change the pointer's color, one by one.
- For a more detailed view, users can click on any Gateway pointer to instantly access its current status, prompting a color change reflecting its status.
- Gateways without complete longitude or latitude coordinates are automatically positioned at Wi6labs.
- Gateways with coordinates set to (0,0) are treated as valid locations.
- Similarly, Gateways with a coordinate set to 0 are appropriately displayed, considering them as valid values.
- In cases where there are multiple Gateways with the same coordinates, the pointer's color will display the status of the last Gateway loaded.
Status (Deprecated)
Several status levels are available via API or Web interface.
Status | Color | Description |
---|---|---|
Connected | Green | Gateway fully operational |
Inactive | Orange | Gateway connected to Wiotys but without any LoraWan traffic in the last hour. If there are active devices near the gateway, it may be necessary to check antenna installation. |
Disconnected | Red | Gateway is not connected to Wiotys, please check the power supply and network connection (ethernet or SIM) |
Unknown | Black | Contact Wi6labs support for more information |
Disabled | Grey | Gateway is desactivated, it will not be allowed to connect to Wiotys |
